Kewaskum Youth Scholarships, Inc. (KEYS) is thrilled to announce a new scholarship for the 2027 school year. The newly established scholarship is named: Donald and Mary Ellen Schulz Memorial Scholarship. The Schulz Family was involved in dairy farming for many years near Kohlsville in the Town of Wayne. Their eight children attended Wayne Elementary School and then Kewaskum Middle School and High School. The family was involved in the Wayne Crusaders 4-H Club and the Kewaskum FFA Club.
The Schulz family is grateful for the education they received through the Kewaskum School District and for receiving a KEYS Scholarship in the program’s early years. The teachers and staff, from kindergarten through high school, played an instrumental role in shaping their children’s futures by providing a strong educational foundation, unwavering encouragement and opportunities for growth. The teachers dedication helped instill the values of hard work, integrity and lifelong learning, leaving a lasting impact that continues to be felt today. In gratitude for the opportunities they received, the Schulz family is honored to support KEYS and its mission of helping future generations pursue further education.
The Donald and Mary Ellen Schulz Memorial Scholarship will be first awarded to the Kewaskum High School (KHS) graduating class in 2027. The payout will be $5,000. Preference for the scholarship recipient is pursuing a career in agriculture, life sciences, veterinary science, etc. and participation in Future Farmers of America (FFA). Students may be attending university or technical college.
KHS students will be notified in the fall about how to apply for this scholarship along with other KEYS and community scholarships.
