The Kewaskum Indians cross country teams opened their season at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School with an impressive performance. Both the men’s and women’s teams placed third overall, marking a strong start to the season for both squads.
Leading the way for the girls was Olivia Gerhartz, who ran a great race to finish third individually with a time of 20:42—dropping 35 seconds from last year’s same race, where she placed seventh. On the boys’ side, Wyatt Luedtke led the team with a seventh-place finish in 17:59, improving by one minute 13 seconds from last year’s meet, where he placed 18th.
Both varsity and junior varsity squads turned in solid efforts, demonstrating the depth and talent across the roster. The coaches were very pleased with how hard the athletes trained all summer and how they began the season. “Every single member who put their spikes on today gave their best, honest effort,” said Coach Peterson.
“I look forward to building on this early success as the season progresses,” said Coach Bicknell.
The next race is in De Pere on September 4 at the UW-Green Bay Alumni Cross Country Course.
