County Jail and Highway Signage Updates from the Fond du Lac County Board

Posted

This article was submitted on Monday, Oct. 19 and highlights some important information coming to Fond du Lac County.

Fond du Lac County Jail Update

Venture Architects has completed the schematic design options and estimated costs for the proposed Fond du Lac County Jail. There was a meeting held on Oct. 27 at 4:30 p.m., in which those designs were presented to the full Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors in closed session. The presentation will be held in closed session because the designs contain sensitive security details. Keeping those details confidential helps protect the people housed in the jail and the correctional officers who work there. Following the Oct. 27 meeting, a website will be created where the public can review the information presented to the County Board, excluding sensitive security details. In January 2027, five public listening sessions will be held throughout Fond du Lac County. These sessions will give residents an opportunity to speak with the Samuel Group, which will move forward with the project at the direction of the County Board. In February 2027, the Fond du Lac County Board will hold its first open-session discussion of the proposed project. Further updates and meetings will be made public in the Campbellsport News.

County Highway BB and County Highway W Intersection Signage Improvements

Citizens near the intersection of County Highway BB and County Highway W asked the county to look into improving signage at the intersection. Tom Janke, Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner, reviewed the signage at the intersection and decided to add reflective tape to the signposts, add two chevrons on each side of the left-turn arrow and move the stop sign closer to the intersection with two large orange flags.
