Cougars Bring Home First Win of the Season

Posted

The Cougar girls’ bowling team is looking to extend their string of Conference Titles to five and State Bowling appearances to five also.
“It will be a little more of a challenge this year because the last of the 2023 State Champions have graduated, and we have a young team,” said Coach Serwe. “We have the talent to do both, but we will have to work hard and get focused on the task early.”
The Cougars started the season as usual in West Bend and faced bowling against their average because the league has an odd number of teams, and the Cougars faced the bye team. To win a match, a team must bowl 90% of its yearly average. The Cougars won eight of nine games to claim their first win of the season. The team showed a lot of promise in their first match of the season.
Bowling for the Cougars this year are juniors Lillee Kiehnau, Abby Jarmuz, Genna Grahl and Kendall Boegel, and freshmen Ava Polzin and Viola Schrauth.
“We have a nice bunch of girls, and I believe we are going places,” said Coach Serwe.

Leading the team, filling 11 of 16 frames, was Abby Jarmuz and Lillee Kiehnau, Kendall Boegel followed up with 9 of 16, and freshman Ava Polzin filled 7 of 14. Genna Grahl filled 6 of 14 and Viola Schrauth 4 of 14.
Stats for the match were as follows (strikes-spares-total frames): Lillee Kiehnau 4-7-16; Kendall Boegel 3-6-16; Ava Polzin 2-5-14; Viola Schrauth 1-3-14; Abby Jarmuz 2-9-16; Genna Grahl 4-2-14.
The Cougars go to Richfield next week to face their next foe.
