Campbellsport’s Jacob Allickson Earns 100th Win

Posted

On January 3, Campbellsport girls wrestling finished in 10th place with 65.5 points at the Shiocton Girls Clausen Classic.
Emerson Wissink’s third-place finish in the 132 weight class paced the Cougars at the Classic.
At Cedar Grove-Belgium
The Campbellsport boys’ wrestling team finished in fourth place out of 25 teams with 125 points at the Rocket Scramble at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

Zach Zimdahl paced the Cougars with a second-place finish, with Zayden Groll, Trayton Renderman, and Porter Klotz finishing in third place for Campbellsport at the Scramble.
“Zach led the way for us and added another ranked win to his resume,” said Head Coach Alex Costello. “Porter energized the crowd with big moves.”
“Jacob competed in a deep 126-pound bracket to finish fourth,” said Costello. “Erich returned to the mat for the first time since December 23 and opened up the tournament with a 2-1 record before being forced to medically forfeit his final two matches.”
At UW-Oshkosh
On December 30, Campbellsport boys wrestling finished in 42nd place out of 66 teams with 48 points to wrap their two days of wrestling at the Lourdes On the Water (OTW) Wrestling Classic at UW-Oshkosh.
Logan Knoeck’s sixth-place finish led the Cougars in the 113 weight class at OTW, and Jacob Allickson won his 100th match during the meet.
“Logan had an impressive performance with an overtime victory over the eighth-ranked wrestler in Division 3 with a slick takedown for the win, and an exciting upset over the 10th-ranked wrestler in Illinois 3A [where] Logan relied on his conditioning to hit a clutch cradle, scoring a takedown and four near-fall points as time expired to complete a dramatic 13-12 comeback victory before dropping his final two matches on day two to finish sixth in a highly-competitive field,” said Head Coach Alex Costello.
“Three seniors, Jacob, Porter, and Zach, each went 3-2 on day one but fell in the blood round in day two and narrowly missed the podium in this elite tournament,” said Costello.
“Trayton finished 2-2 by showing strong effort and solid wrestling throughout the tournament,” said Costello.
At Sheboygan South
The Campbellsport girls’ wrestling team finished in seventh place with 85 points at the Sheboygan South Holiday Invite.
Emersen Wissink finished in first place in her 126 weight class, and Savannah Ksioszk was in second place in the 132 weight class during the Invite.
“Emersen really had a good day with a 5-0 record with five first-period pins,” said Head Coach Dan Heisdorf.
Campbellsport wrestling will travel to WLA on January 8 at 7 p.m., and then the Cougars will go to New London on January 10 at 9:30 a.m.
