Campbellsport Volleyball Goes Four Sets Against Spartans

On October 1, Campbellsport girls volleyball lost three sets to one against Laconia on the road in a matchup featuring two of the best teams in the Flyway Conference.

Laconia (23-1, 5-0) won the first set against Campbellsport (24-11, 3-2) by the score of 25-16.

The Cougars responded in the second set, led by Ellie Smith’s eight kills to break open the set with the score tied at 18.

Campbellsport scored the next six points to go up to 24-18 before Smith got her final kill to secure the set win at 25-20 for the Cougars.

It was the first set lost by Laconia in conference play, giving the Cougars some momentum going into the third set.

The Spartans won the final two sets by the score of 25-17 to win the match in four sets to stay undefeated in the conference.

“The girls played extremely hard, with Campbellsport having some powerful hitters, and the girls played very well on defense; serve-receive was beautiful, and we served out spots well,” said Laconia Head Coach Kaitlyn Wiese. “I am very proud of the intensity and passion they brought ot the court. It was a fun game to watch and be part of because of the talent the teams brought.”

Campbellsport volleyball hosted Kewaskum on September 6 after print time.  The Cougars will travel to WLA on September 8 at 7 p.m.
