Campbellsport Girls have Two Wrestlers finish on the Podium

Posted

On December 13, Campbellsport boys wrestling finished with wins against Lomira and Whitnall at the Wisconsin Dells Wrestling Duals in one of the toughest duals of the season, featuring eight state-ranked teams.
“The second dual against Whitnall we battled to tie, and we were awarded the win thanks to the coaches’ challenging and winning by the sixth criteria,” said Head Coach Alex Costello. “We closed out the day strong with a Flyway Conference showdown against Lomira, making a statement with a decisive 54-29 victory over the Lions.”
Logan Knoeck went 5-0 on the day, with Jacob Allickson, Porter Klotz, and Zach Zimdahl going 4-1 at the Duals for the Cougars.
At Brillion

On December 12, Emersen Wissink and Savannah Ksioszk both went 5-1 at the Brillion Girls wrestling tournament to finish in third place in their weight classes.
“Emersen and Savannah’s only losses came to the eventual champions at the Brillion tournament,” said Head Coach Dan Heisdorf.
“Emersen has improved a lot from last year, starting the season with a 10-2 record with back-to-back third-place finishes,” said Heisdorf.
“Savannah has quickly put other coaches on notice with her 10-1 start in her freshman year,” said Heisdorf.
Home Meet
On December 11, Campbellsport boys wrestling defeated Mayville 71-6 to stay undefeated at 2-0 in the Flyway Conference, and lost to Weyauwega-Fremont 56-18 on Parents Night.
“Trayton and Jacob both bumped up weight classes and collected pins for us against the Cardinals,” said Head Coach Alex Costello.
“The Weyauwega-Fremont dual started with Zach keeping his hot streak by collecting a first-period fall for us,” and Logan led his entire match until the final 30 seconds, falling to a 4-3 decision,” said Costello.
“Trayton held a one-point lead with 15 seconds left when his opponent reversed him, but Trayton didn’t give up and scored a buzzer-beating reversal to clinch the 11-10 win,” said Costello. “Porter ended the night on a positive note, collecting a dominant first-period fall.”
Campbellsport wrestling will travel to NFDL/Springs on December 18 at 7 p.m., and the Cougars girls wrestling team goes to Menasha on December 20 at 9:30a a.m.
