Posted

On November 21, Campbellsport lost its first game on the road, 49-43 to Random Lake.

Campbellsport (1-1) was able to put the score at 22-16 with Random Lake (1-1) leading thanks to three points apiece from Laverenz and Chloey Berres.
The Cougars continued to fight at the end of the first half with a three-pointer from Taylor Schladweiler and a basket from Brittany Reilly to trail by five points to the Rams, with the halftime score of 28-23.

Brianna Bobb scored eight points early in the second half and was aided by a Brittany Reilly offensive rebound putback to tie the game up at 33.
Campbellsport got a free throw from Ava Sabish to put the score at 35-34 in favor of Random Lake with less than ten minutes left in the game, but the Cougars couldn’t get over the hump with multiple opportunities to take the lead against the Rams.
Random Lake took advantage to take a 45-34 lead with four minutes remaining on the clock before Reilly drained a three-pointer, followed by baskets from Bobb and Mackenzie Helsell to close the gap to 47-41 with 1:30 left in the game.
Bobb scored another basket to finish her productive night with 15 points and 17 rebounds in the 49-43 loss to Random Lake.
“We didn’t get the result we wanted on the road against Random Lake, but we were getting back in the gym to get ready for our next game,” said Head Coach Ray La Batte.
Vs Washington County Home School
On November 18, Campbellsport girls’ basketball beat Washington County Home School 58-44 to win their season opener for the first time in six seasons.
Campbellsport (1-1) tied up the game at four when Kiera Laverenz scored for the Cougars and Chloey Berres hit a jumper to give Campbellsport a 9-8 lead early in the first half.
WCHS had a 14-10 lead when the Cougars went on a 10-0 scoring run, fueled by their defense, and featured offensive rebound putbacks by Berres and Brittany Reilly to take a 20-14 lead.
The score was tied at 24 when WCHS made a layup at the halftime buzzer.
The Cougars were able to push their lead to 37-32 at the ten-minute mark in the second half, thanks to eight points scored by Mackenzie Helsell, highlighted by a nice steal for a layup from Helsell.
Campbellsport extended their lead to 49-37 over WCHS when the Cougars’ defense took over the game, which featured Laverenz and Berres combining for the 12 points for Campbellsport during the impressive stretch of team play.
Ava Sabish and Reilly made back-to-back three-pointers for the Cougars to put the finishing touches on their 58-44 season-opening win at home.
Chloey Berres led Campbellsport with 17 points, and Mackenzie Helsell with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the non-conference victory.
Our Goal is to be 1-0 after every game, and we were able to accomplish that in our season opener,” said Head Coach Ray La Batte. “We had balanced scoring with three players scoring over ten points on the night.”
Campbellsport traveled to Ozaukee on November 25 after print time before the Thanksgiving break.
