Campbellsport Girls Basketball Plays Tough Conference Schedule

On January 16, Campbellsport girls’ basketball lost 75-53 to Omro in the first game of Friday’s girls’ and boys’ basketball doubleheader for the Flyway Conference.
Kiera Laverenz scored the first basket of the game for Campbellsport (1-13, 0-7) against Omro (11-3, 4-3), and then freshman point guard Taylor Schladweiler was able to score five consecutive points for the Cougars to put the score at 19-7 in favor of the Foxes with nine minutes left in the first half.
The young Cougars continued to battle back when Brittany Reilly made a basket, and Chloey Beres knocked a three-pointer to make the score 25-13.
Then, Campbellsport’s Laverenz and Schladweiler converted offensive rebounds into points, which was followed by a jumper from Ellie Heider to close the gap to 31-21 with less than two minutes on the first-half clock.

Omro was able to push their lead back to 37-22 at the halftime break.
The Cougars showed their toughness and resilient spirit in a very physical game when Laverenz converted in the post, and Schaldweiler scored again off an offensive rebound to put the score at 43-32 in favor of Omro.
The Foxes controlled the rest of the game thanks to their star senior Ava Koch leading Omro with 30 points to secure the 75-53 conference win.
Taylor Schladweiler had 22 points and just missed a triple-double with nine rebounds and nine steals in an impressive performance for the freshman to pace Campbellsport.
Vs Laconia
On January 13, Cambpellsport girls’ basketball lost 88-29 to Laconia at home in their Flyway Conference matchup.
Campbellsport (1-13, 0-7) got a deep two-pointer from Brianna Bobb and two baskets in the paint from Kiera Laverenz to put the score at 20-8 against Laconia (8-6, 7-0) in the first half.
The Cougars’ freshmen point guard, Taylor Schladweiler, ripped the ball away from the Spartans and converted an impressive fast break to make the score 33-11 in favor of Laconia.
Laconia controlled the rest of the first half with its three-point shooting and defense to take a 55-13 halftime lead.
Campbellsport continued to battle in their conference matchup in the second half, highlighted by two three-pointers from Chloey Berres, but Laconia was led by their junior guard Finley Morgan with 34 points to win the contest by a score of 88-29 to stay undefeated in the Flyway.
Campbellsport girls’ basketball traveled to North Fond du Lac on January 20, after print time, and hosted Winnebago Lutheran on January 23 at 7 p.m.
