On October 24, Campbellsport boys’ cross country advanced to the Division 2 WIAA Cross Country Meet with a runner-up finish at the Portage Sectional with 86 team points.
The Cougars were led by Garrett Pickering’s second-place finish of 16:00 and a fourth-place finish by Caleb Siebauer with a career-best time of 16:13 to advance to their third consecutive state appearance as a team.
Mason Dirmeier finished in 15th place for the Cougars, and Noah Bobb finished with  a career-best time at sectionals.
“Senior Gavin Pickering returned from injury in time who last competed on September 12 at the Neenah Nightfall Meet said he felt like his legs had recovered enough to give it a try at Sectional,” said Head Coach Mike Kulibert.

It is the third state appearance for Garrett Pickering, with second state appearances for Gavin Pickering, Bobb, and Siebauer for the Campbellsport boys’ team.
The Campbellsport girls’ cross country team finished in 12th place with 302 points at the Portage Sectional.
“Senior Izzy Sperfslage closed out her cross country career with her best time ever, and Ava Basile has excelled in the cooler temperatures late in the season with a personal best time,” said Kuliber. “Eva Pendowski, Ryleigh Volz, and Genna Grahl also had career-best times, and Lorelei Walker had a season-best time.”
The Campbellsport boys’ cross country team will run at the Division 2 WIAA State Cross Country meet in Wisconsin Rapids at the Ridges Golf Course on November 1 with a scheduled start time of 12:35 p.m.
