Campbellsport Baseball Wins First-Round Game in Five Innings

On May 29, Campbellsport baseball beat 14-seed Sheboygan South 10-0 in five innings to advance to the second round of the Division 2 WIAA baseball tournament.
Campbellsport (18-8) jumped on Sheboygan South early in the first inning with two runs, featuring a Braden Bothe RBI single for a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars scored three more runs in the second inning with a run by Gage Kohlmann and a Jace Goebel sac fly after the bases were loaded to give Campbellsport a 4-0 lead.
Trent Schladweiler scored the final run in the inning with two outs on the ledger to extend the Cougars’ lead to 5-0 over Sheboygan South.

Campbellsport was facing two outs again in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Cougars scored two runs, highlighted by a Riley Kohlmann single to give them a 7-0 lead.
The Cougars closed out the game with three runs in the fifth inning, featuring a Goebel RBI single to secure the 10-0 first-round tournament win for Campbellsport.
Riley Kohlmann’s pitching performance with 11 strikeouts, combined with Kyler Bowe, Jace Goebel, and Gage Kohlmann combining for six hits and six runs, led the way for the Cougars in the victory.
“Riley was dominant on the hill as he went the distance, and we took care of business to open up regional play,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Vs Columbus
On May 27, Campbellsport baseball lost 8-0 to Columbus to wrap up their regular season.
Columbus (11-12) scored five runs in the first inning and added three runs in the third inning for the 8-0 win over Campbellsport (18-8).
Campbellsport baseball, as the three-seed, hosted six-seed Xavier in the second-round game in the Division 2 WIAA baseball tournament on June 3.
