Campbellsport Baseball Responds With Key Win Against Laconia

On May 5, Campbellsport baseball defeated CWC 7-2 on the road in a non-conference matchup.
Campbellsport (12-3) was able to get the first run of the game in the fourth inning thanks to a double by Carson Heisdorf, which was followed by an RBI single from Carter Gellings with two outs to take a 1-0 lead over CWC (6-8)
The Cougars added two runs in the fifth inning before CWC scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tighten the game at 3-2 going into the final inning.
Campbellsport's offense in the seventh gave them the added margin in the game, starting with a Jace Goebel triple, who was driven in by a Brody Nolan single, and the Cougars added another run to put the score at 5-2 before CWC got two outs on the Cougars.

The Cougars received RBI singles from Heisdorf to center and Gellings to right to expand their lead to 7-2, which turned out to be the winning score for Campbellsport.
Owen Bong was “sharp” on the mound, going the full seven innings while tallying 12 strikeouts, and Jace Goebel leading the offense with three hits in the Cougars' sixth road win on the season.
Vs Laconia
On May 2, Campbellsport baseball beat Laconia 7-2 after the game was rescheduled from Thursday due to rainy weather to split the season series against the Spartans.
Campbellsport (12-3, 6-2) scored three runs in the third inning against Laconia (11-2, 7-1). The Cougars loaded the bases with no outs, which was started by a Gage Kohlmann single.
The Cougars were able to score the first run of the game with a bases-loaded walk from Jace Goebel, then followed up by manufacturing two more runs with two outs to take a 3-0 lead over the visiting Spartans.
Campbellsport increased their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Cougars got the bases loaded again with one out, which led to a Goebel sac fly and a Brody Nolan RBI to put the score at 5-0 on the scoreboard.
Laconia was able to score two runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Campbellsport lead to 5-2, but the Cougars responded in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out Riley Kohlmann two-run RBI single to increase the Campbellsport lead back to 7-2.
Campbellsport was able to close out the Spartans in the seventh inning for the 7-2 conference win thanks to Braden Bothe’s complete game of seven innings from the pitching mound.
At Laconia
On April 29, Campbellsport baseball lost 9-2 to Laconia in their first matchup of the week between the two teams.
Campbellsport (12-3, 6-2) took an early 1-0 lead over Laconia (11-2, 7-1) in the first inning thanks to a double by Kyler Bowe, who came around to score on a ball hit by Brody Nolan.
Laconia scored five runs in the first two innings to take a 5-1 lead over the Cougars, and then the Spartans added three more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 8-1.
The Cougars got a two-out RBI double from Trent Schladweiler in the sixth inning to bring the score to 8-2 against the Spartans.
Laconia added another run in the sixth inning to secure the 9-2 win over the visiting Cougars.
Campbellsport baseball hosted Omro on May 6 and travels to Omro on May 8 with the game at 5 p.m. The Cougars will travel to New Holstein on May 10 at 10 a.m.
