On May 19, Campbellsport baseball resumed their game against Kewaskum from April 25, with the two teams tied 5-5 in the 11th inning after the game was suspended due to darkness.
Kewaskum (16-4) was able to score the winning run in the bottom of the 14th inning of the resumed game to get the 6-5 win over Campbellsport (16-6) between two very good teams as they get ready for their WIAA tournament seeding assignments and finishing up their regular seasons.
VS NFDL
On May 16, Campbellsport baseball defeated NFDL 11-0 in five innings after the game was rescheduled due to May 15 storms, and the Cougars received a forfeit win from Tuesday’s matchup due to NFDL not having enough players available on May 13.
Campbellsport’s (16-5, 10-2) offense took control of the game in the first inning by scoring five runs against NFDL (6-11, 2-10), started by a Jace Goebel double, then followed by a Brody Nolan double to right to drive in Goebel. A Braden Bothe RBI single gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead while there were two outs.
The Cougars got back-to-back RBI doubles from Cullen Reis and Gage Kohlmann, which was followed by a single from Zach Zimdahl to drive in the final run to put the score at 5-0 after one inning.
Campbellsport’s bats got going again in the bottom of the third inning with two outs when Goebel laced a triple into the Orioles’ outfield for an RBI to expand the Cougars’ lead to 8-0.
The Cougars finished off their big inning with singles by Nolan for an RBI and Riley Kohlmann to drive in two runs to increase their lead to a commanding 11-0 score over NFDL.
Jace Goebel, Brody Nolan, and Cullen Reis combined for seven hits to power the Cougars’ offense, which aided Riley Kohlmann’s shutout performance from the pitching mound with nine strikeouts in an 11-0 win in five innings for Campbellsport.
Campbellsport baseball hosted WLA on May 20 and will travel to WLA on 22 with game time at 5 p.m.
