Campbellsport Baseball Earns Two-Game Sweep Over Foxes

Game Two vs New Holstein
On May 10, Campbellsport was defeated 3-0 by New Holstein to wrap up their busy week of baseball in the non-conference matchup.
New Holstein (10-7) took a 1-0 lead against Campbellsport (14-5) in the bottom of the second inning.
The Huskies tacked on two runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 3-0, which proved to be the winning margin for New Holstein against the Cougars.

Game One vs Grafton
On May 10, Campbellsport baseball lost 4-0 to Grafton in their first game on the nice Saturday morning.
Grafton (12-6) scored the first of the game in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (14-5).
The Blackhawks scored a run in the third and two runs in the fourth to increase their lead to 4-0 over the Cougars.
Campbellsport wasn’t able to cut into Grafton’s lead during the final three innings, which resulted in a 4-0 non-conference loss for the Cougars.
At Omro
On May 8, Campbellsport baseball defeated Omro 7-1 on the road to sweep the season series between the two teams.
Campbellsport (14-5, 8-2) was able to score the first, thanks to back-to-back doubles by Kyler Bowe and Jace Goebel, with Bowe scoring on Goebel’s double to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning over Omro (6-9, 1-8).
The Cougars’ offense showed off their hitting prowess, scoring five runs in the fourth inning, starting with an RBI double from Zach Zimdahl and followed by RBI singles from Trent Schladweiler, Brody Nolan, and Goebel to push their lead to 6-0 over the Foxes.
Campbellsport was able to tack on a run with an RBI single from Schladweiler to extend the Cougars’ lead to 7-0 in the fifth inning before Omro was finally able to score their only run of the game in the seventh to make the final score 7-1 in the Campbellsport win.
Braden Bothe led the Cougars with a strong seven innings from the pitching mound by striking out 13 Foxes’ batters.
“Braden gave us a great outing, having control right from the start, and seven runs from our offense was more than enough for Braden to secure the win,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
The offense was led by Jace Goebel’s three hits in the conference victory for the Cougars.
Vs Omro
On May 6, Campbellsport baseball beat Omro 3-0 in their Flyway Conference matchup.
Campbellsport (14-5, 8-2) took a 1-0 lead over Omro (6-9, 1-8) in the first inning, thanks to an RBI single from Brody Nolan for the Cougars.
The Cougars added to their lead in the fourth inning when Zach Zimdahl hit an RBI single to center to increase the Campbellsport lead to 2-0 over the Foxes.
Trent Schladweiler hit a triple in the sixth inning, then later in the inning, Kyler Bowe was able to execute a squeeze play to add an insurance run for the Cougars at 3-0.
Campbellsport got a complete game from Riley Kohlmann with a shutout of Omro, by striking out nine Foxes’ batters in the 3-0 victory for the Cougars.
“Riley was outstanding and our offense was able to piece together enough runs behind him,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport baseball traveled to NFDL on May 13 and will host NFDL on May 15 at 5 p.m. Then the Cougars will travel to Chilton on May 16 at 4:30 p.m. and to Kewaskum on May 19 at 5 p.m.
