Campbellsport Baseball Clinches Flyway Conference Championship

On May 22, Campbellsport baseball defeated WLA 7-0 to clinch a share of the Flyway Conference Championship for the first time since 2022.
Campbellsport (17-7, 11-3) had two outs against them, facing WLA (12-10, 7-7), in the first inning when Riley Kohlmann hit a single to right field to take a 1-0 lead.
The Cougars got the bases loaded in the inning, which resulted in Ben Sabish and R. Kohlmann scoring runs to give Campbellsport a 3-0 lead after one inning.
Campbellsport’s fifth inning started with a Trent Schladweiler double to right, which was followed by a Kyler Bowe single, and Jace Goebel executed a sacrifice bunt to take a 4-0 lead.

Brody Nolan got a single before the Vikings got two outs on the Cougars, which put Braden Bothe up to the plate, and Bothe helped his own cause on the mound with an RBI single to increase the Campbellsport lead to 5-0 over WLA.
The Cougars once again had two outs on them when Zach Zimdahl hit a double, and Schladweiler got an RBI single to put the score at 6-0 in the sixth inning.
Campbellsport loaded the bases in the seventh inning, which resulted in a final run for the Cougars to give them a commanding 7-0 lead.
Bothe closed out the Vikings in the bottom of the seventh inning, which sent the Cougars into a conference championship celebration thanks to Bothe’s dominating seven innings on the mound by striking out ten Viking batters for the win.
Game One at WLA
On May 22, Campbellsport baseball lost 6-2 to WLA in the first game of their doubleheader.
WLA (12-10, 7-7) had a 3-0 lead over first-place Campbellsport (17-7, 11-3) going into the bottom of the fourth inning.
Campbellsport received an RBI single hit to right field from Gage Kohlmann in the fourth inning to put the score at 3-1 in favor of the Vikings.
The Cougars continued to battle back in the game when Campbellsport got a double from Trent Schladweiler and RBI double from Kyler Bowe to tighten the game at 3-2 after five innings.
The Vikings scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to increase their lead back to 6-2, which turned out to be the final score between WLA and Campbellsport.
Campbellsport baseball hosted Columbus on May 27 to finish up their regular season. The Cougars received a three seed in the WIAA Division 2 Baseball Tournament and will host the 14th seed, Sheboygan South, on May 29 in the first round of the WIAA tournament.
