The Philippine Fishing Federation recently announced their final roster for the 2025 FIPSed IV Street Fishing World Championship. After a major recruiting push in the Midwest among dozens of Filipino cultural and fishing groups online, a young talented local angler, Reign Huebner (19) of Campbellsport, was named as a starting member of the Philippine National Street Fishing Team.
Huebner was born in Manila, Philippines, and adopted by John and Jody Huebner as a toddler. “Reign has been fishing since he was four years old and is an excellent angler,” John Huebner explained, “We saw a great opportunity for Reign to showcase his talent and connect with his Filipino culture.”
Philippine Fishing Federation Coach PJ Perea was looking for Filipino anglers with local/regional expertise that would translate into successful street anglers for the tournament. The other four anglers hail from the Chicagoland area and have experience fishing the Fox River and Lake Michigan waterways. Reign Huebner had the most local expertise, so he will prove to be extremely valuable as a local expert.
“Joining the fishing team feels like more than just a hobby. It’s a chance to connect, compete, and find peace on the water all at once,” Reign Huebner said.
The 2025 FIPSed IV Street Fishing World Championship will be held in Green Bay, on the Fox River on October 25-27, 2025. The fishing will be along the urban waterways of the City of Green Bay, Village of Allouez, City of De Pere, and Village of Ashwaubenon. The venue of the Fox River hosts a variety of fish species and will present a challenge for anglers coming from Africa and Europe, including the defending World Street Fishing Champion Italy.
The Philippine Fishing Federation (PFF) was founded to organize and develop skilled competitive anglers to fish in world-sanctioned contests hosted by the Fresh Water International Sport Fishing Federation (FIPSed) and the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS).
