Anthony Thelen
Anthony (Tony) Thelen passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 18, 2023 at the age of 89.
Tony is survived by their four children Sharon (Scott Krahn) Thelen, Dennis (Iva) Thelen, Sandy (Tim) Leitheiser, and Lisa (Tim) Nieskes; his six grandchildren Matt (Katy Covert) Leitheiser, Maggie Leitheiser (Trevor Blazei), Katherine (Michael) Hecimovich, Jacob Leitheiser, Robert Thelen, and Oscar Nieskes; his great-grandsons Cameron and Daniel Hecimovich; her sisters-in-law Judy Felten and Joyce Thelen; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Felten) Thelen; his parents Michael and Flora Thelen; his brothers Norbert Thelen and Joseph (Mary Lou) Thelen; his sisters Agnes (John) Burns and Adela Baumhardt; his brothers-in-law William Felten and Robert Felten; and his sister-in-law Marie (Henry) Fellenz.
Tony was born on January 17, 1934 in Ashford, WI on his family’s farm, which would always play an important role in his life. In school he discovered and nurtured his love of sports. He earned 11 varsity letters for baseball, football, and basketball for Campbellsport High School – even going to the State Baseball Tournament his freshman year. Tony served in the Army from 1957 – 1959, during which he also played on a touring basketball team that won the league championship.
On March 17th, 1960, Tony met Helen on a blind date, and they married two years later on March 3rd, 1962. They resided in West Bend, where he was employed as a Machinist at the Gehl Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1996. That year they built their retirement log home on his family’s farmland in Ashford.
Tony’s love for sports continued throughout his life as he worked as a baseball umpire for many years and was an avid golfer. He was an original member of the Thursday Night Golf League at Camelot Country Club, which he enjoyed participating in for 47 years. He continued to play golf well into his 80s and would practice his putting indoors even after he stopped playing on the course. His competitive spirit also came through with his love of card and dice games, as well as his eagerness to enjoy a simple game of catch or kicking a ball around – all of which he participated in up until his passing.
Tony’s kindness, strength, and quiet love will be greatly missed. He possessed a strong work ethic but knew the value of balancing work and life’s simple enjoyments, such as a cold old fashioned or grasshopper, playing cards with family and friends, or watching his grandchildren participate in their sports or activities.
Tony was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease over 10 years ago, and as the disease slowly robbed him of his memories, it did not alter the essence of who he was. Until the very end, he was a man of great love, faith, and kindness who was always ready to share a smile (especially if you offered him sweets), a husband and father who cherished his family, and a grandfather whose grandchildren carried a special place in his heart.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and deeply considerate caregivers at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Froedtert Community Hospital in West Bend for making Tony’s final days as peaceful as possible. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the thoughtful and kind caregivers at Cornerstone Assisted Living in West Bend.
Visitation will be held at St. Martin’s Catholic Chapel in Ashford, WI (N1271 Minnie Lane Campbellsport) at 10 am on Saturday, March 25th, with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or charities of one’s choice are appreciated.

Lawrence J. ‘Larry’ Mar tin
Lawrence J. “Larry” Martin, 61, of Wayne, passed away on March 2, 2023, at his home, with his loving family at his side.Larry was born on September 4, 1961, in West Bend, the son of Lloyd and Evelyn (nee Bodden) Martin. Larry and Charlotte have been in each other’s lives since 2012 beginning at Rock USA and later on were united in marriage.Larry was a lifelong farmer which was his passion. He was employed by Wacker Neuson for 36 years and also Volm Farms. Larry loved traveling, going on hikes, and waterfall adventures. Larry had a passion working on his classic cars, especially with his son, Josh. Larry was innovative and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and he always had time to help a friend or neighbor. Larry was blessed with his granddaughter, Alesea. Larry was proud to be a grandfather, father, husband, and close friend to many.Those Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Charlotte; his daughters, Jenna (significant other, Dominick), Abbygale (significant other, Jason); a granddaughter, Alesea; his father, Lloyd Martin; his siblings, Joan Christian, Michael (Lucy) Martin, Helen (Richard Schneider) Martin, and Anthony (Carolyn) Martin; a dear friend “man friend”, Pat Lightner; his faithful furry companions, Riley and Harlequinn; other relatives and friends.Larry was preceded in death by his son, Joshua and his mother, Evelyn Martin.CELEBRATION OF LIFE: A celebration of life for Larry will be held at Hon-E-Kor, 1141 Riverview Drive, in Kewaskum on March 25th, 2023 from 1p.m.-3p.The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Aurora at Home Hospice as well as Katherine, for all of her love and support.The Myrhum – Patten Funeral and Cremation Service has been entrusted with Larry’s arrangements. Lloyd V. Schwartzmiller
Lloyd V. Schwartzmiller, 95, of Mayville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. Lloyd was born the son of Victor and Adeline Schwartzmiller on January 10, 1928, in Mayville. Lloyd was confirmed on April 16, 1941, by Pastor H. A. Michelke. Lloyd joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and served his county until 1954. Lloyd was united in marriage to his wife, Bea, on June 29, 1957, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Lloyd and Bea were blessed with 57 years of marriage. He considered being married to Bea the highlight of his life. Lloyd’s passion for sports shown through while attending Mayville High School, where he played four years of football, basketball, and baseball. He also played two years of tennis. For his senior year, Lloyd was voted captain of the basketball team. Lloyd went on to play three years of basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He later went on to play for the Mayville Legion baseball team. He played with the Mayville City Team for over 25 years, winning several batting crowns and made every all-state team. He also played two games at Milwaukee County Stadium with a pickup team from Long Lake. The pickup team won their first game. The highlight of Lloyd’s baseball career was being inducted into the Rock River Basketball Hall of Fame on September 19, 1981. Lloyd was also inducted into the Mayville High School Hall of Fame on January 27, 2017. Lloyd also loved bowling. He bowled for many years with a high game of 287, getting 10 strikes in a row. In 1969, Lloyd took up golf. He was an active member of the Mayville Golf Club for some 50 plus years. On June 13, 2006, Lloyd recorded a hole in one on the 6th Hole, par 3 at Rock River Hills golf course in Horicon. This significant event was witnessed by his good friends, Rags (Walter) Schellpfeffer and Chuck Williams. On October 30, 2007, Lloyd recorded yet another hole in one on Hole #17 at the Mayville Golf Course. This hole in one was witnessed by Rags Schellpfeffer and Marc Trott. Lloyd’s faith in God remained strong throughout his life. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mayville. He also served on the church council for several years. Lloyd also cherished his family. He and Bea loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. They never missed a game. He also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and planting flowers. Lloyd was a member of the Mayville American Legion for some 60 plus years. Lloyd is survived by his children, Dean (Renee) Schwartzmiller, Lori (Dean) Scott; grandchildren, Steele Schwartzmiller, Chase Schwartzmiller, Eric (Jess) Schwartzmiller, Nikki (Tyler) Zirbel, Kasey (Travis) Borkenhagen, Caley Scott, Alec Scott; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (Judy) Schwartzmiller. Lloyd is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bea; and his son, Dale. Funeral services for Lloyd will take place on Thursday, March 16, at 12 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mayville, with Rev. Traci Maass officiating. Visitation for Lloyd will be held at church on Thursday, March 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Interment will take place following the service at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville with military honors conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #69. Doris “Dorie” Mae Schneider
Doris “Dorie” Mae Schneider, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023, with family at her side. She was born February 10, 1938, the oldest child of George and Irene Lechner, in Kekoskee. She was baptized into faith on February 27, 1938, and her strong and consistent faith throughout her life was an inspiration to many. On December 7, 1968, she married Leon Schneider, and together they raised four children. During her life, Dorie worked at Fox Valley Savings, for the hot lunch program at Winnebago Lutheran Academy and Action Printing, but her family and her church were her greatest priorities. For many years she taught little ones the love of their Savior in Sunday School at St. Peter’s, Kekoskee, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Dorie was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, and served in the Ladies Society for many years. She also enjoyed studying God’s Word with her friends in Bible Class at Faith Lutheran Church. Dorie loved keeping up with her grandchildren through photos they would send her and looked through them daily. Dorie is survived by her four children, Cheryl (Daniel) Harding of New Richmond, Terry (Vicki) Schneider of Oshkosh, Sara (Kevin) Krueger of Kekoskee, and Steven (Sara) Schneider of Ripon; eleven grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Rondeau, Brenna (Wes) Joachim, Alyssa (Jared) McDonald, Lindsy and Matthew Schneider, Kavanaugh (Alyssa) Krueger, Hunter and Grant Schneider, Grace (Sam) Engle, and Reagan and Eli (Deborah Nieves) Kropp; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jenna Rondeau, Sawyer and Kennedy Joachim, and Ezra and Amos Engle. She is further survived by her brother Lloyd (Lola) Lechner of Kekoskee, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, and her parents. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 13, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Borgwardt officiating. Burial at Kekoskee Cemetery. Cayden Nicholas Dwyer
Cayden Nicholas Dwyer, age 23 years, of Kewaskum was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2023, due to a severe asthma attack. Cayden was born on April 15, 1999, in West Bend to Matthew Dwyer and Krista Dwyer (nee Gengler). Cayden’s hobbies were many and he lived his life like there was no tomorrow. He loved Snowboarding and competed at a national level through the USASA – where he was often a top contender in his events. Cayden enjoyed baseball, football, basketball (GO BUCKS!), fishing, going Up North to the cottage on Waubee Lake, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with family and looked forward to special occasions and holidays. Most of all Cayden was a very proud and loving father of Bubba D.Those Cayden leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, Daxton “Bubba” Dwyer; maternal grandmother, Carla Gengler; paternal grandfather, John Dwyer III; mother, Krista Gengler; father, Matthew (fiancée Debbie Drexler) Dwyer; and sisters, Rylie Dwyer and Kaytlyn Dwyer. Kyla Elizabeth Rath
The Almighty Lord, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call his servant, Kyla Elizabeth Rath (nee Pieper) of Eden, to finish her earthly race and receive her heavenly crown on March 2, 2023, at age 34. Kyla was born on August 15, 1988. She was brought into God's kingdom through baptism and later confirmed in her faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Campbellsport. She attended Waucousta Lutheran School and graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 2007. After high school, she attended Concordia University where she met the love of her life, Cameron. They were married in 2012. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Dundee.Kyla was mother to Otto, Leland, Mabel, and Hazel. Kyla was an amazing mother and wife. Kyla loved to help people. She would light up a room and was the peacemaker in many situations. She brought that with her as she worked as a night shift labor and delivery nurse at Aurora in Grafton and most recently in Oshkosh. She took great joy in being able to help women bring their children into the world. She was loved by all who met her. She showed passion in her many activities, including volleyball, basketball, and softball. Thomas J. Vollmer
Thomas J. Vollmer, 80, of Mayville passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023, at ThedaCare in Neenah with his family by his side. Tom was born the son of Gilbert and Elizabeth (Schnaderbeck) Vollmer on March 20, 1942, in Fond du Lac. He was a 1960 graduate of Mayville High School. Tom had retired from Gleason Reel in 1997 after 37 years of service to the company serving as past Vice President, engineer, and part owner. He was united in marriage to Jane Thornton on January 16, 1998, at St. Mary’s in Mayville. Tom loved life. The self acclaimed “Polka King” was a member of the Mayville Golf Club and the Polka Booster’s Dance Club for many years. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville. He loved spending time with his family.
