John Eldon Giese, age 66 years, of Oshkosh “originally from Campbellsport,” unexpectedly passed away on January 24, 2022, at his home.John was born on March 19, 1955, in West Bend to Donald and Mary Giese (Winckler).He graduated from Campbellsport High School. John loved spending time with his grandchildren going to county fairs, playing mini golf, watching movies and Packer games, and camping and taking trips with his family.Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his two children, Todd (Cindy) Giese and Jessica (Lucas) Wanner; three grandchildren, Skye Wanner, Starr Wanner, and Wyatt Giese; siblings, Ronnie Giese, Dale Giese, and Jo Ann (Tim) Giese-Kent.He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Giese; sister, Annie Giese; and sister-in-law, Shirley Giese.Funeral Service for John will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Twohig Funeral Home (109 W. Main St. – Campbellsport, WI 53010) with Father Jacob Strand officiating. Inurnment at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery in Campbellsport at a later date.John’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.Twohig Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with John’s arrangements. Duane “Papa” L. Kreuziger, age 92, of Allenton passed away on Saturday January 22, 2022. He was born on August 8, 1929, in Watertown to Albert and Emma (nee Schuster) Kreuziger. He was raised at first in Clyman but spent most of his adult life in Milwaukee and Allenton. He attended Watertown High School and MATC Barber College.On September 30, 1950, Duane married Norma Marsch from Caledonia and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in September 2021.Duane spent his first decades on “the farm” before moving his young family to Milwaukee to attend barber school. Though he spent more than the next 60 years happily cutting hair in the barbershops he owned in Horicon, Shorewood, Menomonee Falls & Thiensville, he never lost his love of the outdoors. Duane loved living and it showed in the forever twinkle of his eyes. He had an infectious energy and easy friendly disposition. People loved being around him as much as he loved being around them. He was perpetually active and eager to learn about and try new things. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing sheepshead and cribbage, and ballroom dancing with the love of his life. He greatly valued time with family, relatives and his many friends. Duane’s kind and selfless heart earned him the love and respect of his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and grand-dogs. All of the moments spent with him have truly been gifts, and now will become memories forever cherished.Please help us preserve Duane’s legacy. His family would love you to write your favorite memories or stories on a card to be placed in a keepsake box to be read and appreciated by family for days to come.Duane is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Denise (Jerry) Bibis and Cyndi (Mark) Seefeldt; grandchildren, Gary (Jessica) Kreuziger, Nicole Kappy, Valerie (Anya) Stadler, Natalie (Luke) Kas - ten, Jake (Heather) Bibis, Luke (fiancé Kaitlin Nolte); 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jenna, Owen, Joe, Parker, Tegan, Colton, Quinn, Harper and Scarlett, Penelope and Max; other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Gary and Kevin; his twin sister, Charmain; and his brother, Sylvester.A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 28, at Resurrection Catholic Church (215 Main St., Allenton) with Fr Richard Stoffel presiding. Mary Eleanor Scannell, 100, of Armstrong went to her heavenly home on January 28, 2022, at St. Francis Terrace in Fond du Lac, where she had been a resident since 2019. Mary was born on December 17, 1921, in the Town of Empire, the daughter of Martin and Katherine Schwind Tonn. She was one of seven children and grew up living on a farm on Happy Hollow Road near Campbellsport.She attended St. Mathew’s Catholic School and took piano lessons at St. Joseph Convent across the street from the school. Her creative talents extended to playing the violin, singing in the Glee Club, drawing (she received a penmanship award) and ballroom dancing.She graduated from Campbellsport High School with honors in 1940 and received the Good Citizenship Award.On April 18, 1942, she married Stephen H. Scannell at St. Mathew’s Church. They settled on the Scannell homestead in the Town of Osceola.Resourceful in every way, Mary sewed clothes for the couple’s five children. As a homemaker, she took great pride in cooking, baking bread, canning and decorating.She valued education, making sacrifices for her children’s schooling and keeping herself sharp by watching multiple news shows each night, including the BBC.Even into her 90s, Mary continued to cut and style her own hair and decorate her home with holiday scenes she drew for the living room picture window. She spent much of her time creating scrapbooks and writing notes of encouragement and gratitude to her friends and family members including her grandchildren away at college.She was an 80-year member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong and of the larger parish community of Shepherd of the Hills.In 1988, Steve and Mary moved to a new home in Armstrong. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1996.Mary is survived by four children: Maureen (Bill) Paffenroth, Oshkosh, Eileen (Jim) Mirsberger, Burlington, Ann (Pat) Del Ponte, Menasha, and Tim (Jelaine) Scannell, Eden.She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: James and Tom Scannell, Molly (Ron) Naef, Sean (Stacey) Scannell, Shanthi (David) Henriksen, John (Safiyah) Mirsberger, Paul Del Ponte, Leti Del Ponte, Maria (Blake) Blaskowski, Ryan Scannell, Sheena (Nate) Brieske and Neil (Michelle) Scannell; and 18 great-grand children. Other survivors are Elizabeth Hipp, Guillemette Scannell and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Steve, in 2011; and her granddaughter, Caitlin Scannell, in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings and their spouses: Lawrence (Deloris) Tonn, Margaret (Ralph) Guell, Helen (Emit) Searcy, Bernadine (John) Lingenfelter, Katherine (Bob) Willis and George (Mary Ann) Tonn.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 5, at 12 noon at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County B, Eden. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m.to the time of Mass.The family requests that all visitors wear face masks to be respectful to those who are at high risk. In the interest of safety, a luncheon will not be served.The family would like to thank Lynn Kohlman for helping her stay in her home as long as possible, the caring staff of St. Francis Terrace and Agnesian Healthcare Hospice, and the many people who sent cards and notes of encouragement these last two years.
