John Alexander Babler


John (Jack) Alexander Babler, age 90, passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 12, 2022.He was born on February 1, 1932, to John and Elizabeth Babler of Ashford. John (Jack) graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1950. During his junior and senior year of high school he worked at the Babler Cheese Factory.After high school he joined the Navy in April 1951. Spending two years in Japan and two years aboard the USS Philippine Sea CV/CVA/CVS-47.John (Jack) was united in marriage to Rita Koch on January 28, 1956, at St Martins Church, Ashford. They were married for 66 years. Every day he would tell her he loved Rita up to his last days he would say, “Rita, always remember how much I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you. Always remember how much I love you.”After his years in the service, he worked at West Bend Company in 1958. John (Jack) and Rita moved to Waupun, where he worked at the Wisconsin Correctional Institution for 30 years. After he retired, they moved back to Campbellsport.John (Jack) enjoyed going to the Green Bay Packer Games. He was a season ticket holder for 40 years. He often shared stories from his days in the Navy. He was recognized for his service in 2014 participating in an Honor Flight trip.He is survived by his wife, Rita; daughters, Elizabeth (Jeff) Jones, Linda (Joel) Sesing, Paula (Denny) Morasch, Virginia (Jeff) Amberg, Angela (Jack Beranek) Babler, Theresa (John) Saley; 14 grandchildren, Brian, Jacob, John, Jesse, Sarah, Nicholas, Samuel, Brodie, Gina, Cody, Miranda, Brendan, Jacquelyn, and Mary; 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Joe Koch, Paul (Sherry) Koch, Mike (Shirley) Koch; and sister, Geraldine Wondra.He is preceded in death by his parents, John (Elizabeth) Babler; his in-laws, Paul (Marie) Koch; his sisters, Delores (Mike) Fleischman, Celeste (Earl) Schmidt; brother-in-law, Herman Wondra; and sister-in- law, Ella Koch.Dad was so loved by his family. We will be forever grateful for his words of wisdom. He taught us to al - ways see the good in everyone. He always made each of us feel like we were the most important person to him. Because of his love for his family, “Father’s Day” was his favorite day of the year. In later years he enjoyed visiting with company sitting on the front porch eating ice cream.A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at St. Martin’s Chapel, Ashford (N1271 Minnie Lane, Campbellsport). Rev. Neil Zinthefer officiated and burial followed at church cemetery.
