Kewaskum Restaurants Raise Funds For Food Pantry

Posted

Last weekend, two Kewaskum restaurants, Cousins Subs and Dairy Queen, donated $1 to the Kewaskum Community Pantry for every mint shake sold in a friendly competition between the two businesses. Together, the two restaurants raised more than $800 for the food pantry throughout the two-day promotion, which was held Saturday, March 13 to Sunday, March 14.

Franchisee and Cousins Subs owner Keith Novotny came up with the initiative after the response to some friendly banter between the two restaurants sparked community interest. Community members around town and on social media began referring to it as the “great shake debate.”

“Since both restaurants are locally owned and heavily involved in their communities, we thought it would be a great idea to have a fun, friendly competition that also gave back to the community,” Novotny said. “The Kewaskum Community Pantry has been there for countless individuals throughout the pandemic, so we want to support them in that continued effort.”

Cousins Subs, a sandwich shop located at 1010 Fond du Lac Ave. in Kewaskum, “won” the competition by selling more than 350 shakes and raising an additional $115 in customer donations.
