Gladys Lucille Buerger (Beck), 72, of Lomira entered Heaven’s Garden on Thursday, November 14, 2019.
She was born on November 16, 1946 to the late Aloysius and Erna (Karstaedt) Beck. She attended St. Martin’s Catholic grade school in Ashford and graduated from Campbellsport High School. On July 8, 1967, she married Michael Buerger at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Together they raised five children and farmed in the countryside of Lomira.
Gladys worked at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira for almost 20 years, and maintained housekeeping at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. She enjoyed the outdoors and growing a beautiful array of flowers. Gladys lived an ambitious life that included activities such as driving tractor, running the threshing machine, feeding calves, hosting Buerger Christmas parties at the farmhouse, mowing the lawn, canning vegetables, saving flower seeds, attending her children’s sporting events, cooking family meals, and meaningful conversation. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Those Gladys leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Michael Buerger; four children, Michelle Buerger, Jason Buerger, JoEllen (Paul) Buerger Kolbe, and Alaine (Patrick) Buerger; her granddaughter, Catherine Grace Thomas; two sisters, Patricia Stucke and Jeanette (Stanley) Joas; six sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Walter) Betz, LuEllen (Kenneth) Reimer, Donna Herman, Margaret Beck, Joan Buerger, and Jean Buerger; two brothers-in-law, Conrad (Audrey) Buerger and Dean (Stephanie) Buerger.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Blaine Buerger; two sisters, Marguerite Beck and Ruth Beck; four brothers, Jerome Beck, Owen (Lillian) Beck, Walter Beck, and Vincent Beck; her father- and mother-in-law, Silverius “Si” and Olive (Wondra) Buerger; four brothers-in-law, Ralph Stucke, Francis Herman, Joseph Buerger, and William Buerger; and two nieces, Margaret Buerger and Christine Sitter.
A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Gladys will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street, Lomira. Burial to follow after Mass. Sharing food and memories of Gladys will be held at St. Mary’s School Hall following burial.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.
