Karen Twohig, aged 82, passed away on April 5, 2024. She was the beloved wife of James E. Twohig and the cherished mother of Jamie Powell, Jyl Purdy, and Dr. Mary Rose Twohig.
Karen led a fulfilling life as a member of numerous organizations in Albuquerque. She dedicated her time as a member and former president of HLAA (Hearing Loss Association of America), Birthright of Albuquerque, Annunciation Women’s Guild, and Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. Karen selflessly served in the Marriage Enrichment program for 10 years and Marriage Preparation program for engaged couples for 15 years at her church. Karen loved to host dinner parties and set out her best china for her guests.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. James Twohig, whom she first met when they were in first grade; her daughters, Jamie (Steve) Powell, Jyl (Chris) Purdy, Dr. Mary Rose Twohig (husband, Jeff Welsh); grandchildren, Blade Purdy, Daniel and Anna Powell; sister, Kathryn (Harold) Mueller; brother, John (Carol) Kraemer; in-laws Pat (Gloria) Twohig, Marg (Curt) Kissinger, Bob (Mary) Twohig, Rose (John) Brandl, Mary Twohig with husband, George Harrison; Jane (Joe) Wimberger; Dave Twohig; Tom (Rundi) Twohig; brother-in-law, Rich Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anita Kraemer; her in-laws, Dave and Roseann Twohig; her infant sons, Daniel and Phillip; her sister, Jane Miller and brother-in-law, Pat Garvey.

The family expresses gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hospice De La Luz for their dedicated care during this challenging time. In memory of Karen, donations can be made to Birthright of Albuquerque, HLAA of Albuquerque or Catholic Charities of New Mexico in place of sending flowers.

Visitation will be held at French Funerals, 7121 Wyoming, on Thursday April 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a Mass on Friday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish on Phoenix & Vermont. Funeral service will be live streamed on  Youtube/Annunciation Parish Albuquerque.  For online condolences or to share memories of Karen, please visit www.FrenchFunerals.com
